So of course in order review Kevin Trudeau’s book Debt Cures They Don’t Want You To Know About I need to buy and read the book. So today I visited Kevin’s website, www.debtcures.com. Now as somebody who works in the world of internet marketing, I feel like I know a thing or two about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and website usability. That being said, when I saw the official Debt Cures website today, I was shocked by how poorly designed it is.

Now you might be telling yourself, “I also visited the Debt Cures website and I thought it looked pretty nice.” Well, you’re right it does look nice. It looks nice to people. But to a search engine like Google or Yahoo!, it doesn’t look like much of anything. The reason why is that people can see, read and appreciate pictures and images. But Google’s computer algorithms can only read text on a website. A close look at Kevin Trudeau’s website reveals that nearly everything on the page is an image. Even the words are primarily part of images and not text that search engine can read.

The only text that Google can read from Debtcures.com is the information about addresses and shipping. Every time you see the words Debt Cures, Keving Trudeau, credit improvement, etc. (all the keywords that you would think Trudeau want Google to associate with his site) they are all in images. I guess that Kevin Trudeau’s marketing people are really not to interested in having their customers find them through the search engines for any term other than the search term “Debt Cures” (Google will rank the site high for that term simply because it is their domain name. I.e. www.debtcures.com).

All that said and done, I am not trying to suggest that nobody will ever visit Kevin’s website and that they will not make any sales of the book from the site. That is far from true. The reality is that I expect that many thousands of people are hearing about the website from the Debt Cure informercials and are simply typing www.debtcures.com into their computers. And if people do search for the keyword “Debt Cures” in Google (the only keyword that I expect the site should rank highly for), they will find that Kevin Trudeau’s official Debt Cures website is near the top of the search results. Obviously people will visit the site and buy the book. The only conclusion that I can draw from this analysis is that the marketing team behind the Debt Cures project is being lazy when it comes to their website. They’re probably paying hundreds of thousands of dollars per week to air the infomercial and they’re selling thousand (if not millions) of books. But their neglecting their website and in today’s day and age, website are very important. Maybe they don’t realize that for a very small investment they can have a new website that would make Google proud.
